Trim Group finish carpenters are responsible for ensuring that the doors and windows in a house function properly and that all of the final design elements are consistent with each other. Depending on the client’s preferences and styles we work with various materials including wood, plaster, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), PVC, glass, and more.

• Traditionally almost every moulding was done with wood. You can choose between hard woods or soft woods. They are easily trimmed and painted to your preference but are pricier than the MDF alternative;

• A less expensive option and that looks the closest to wood is MDF (medium-density fibreboard). It is installed the same way as wood, but it is a little less sturdy. Modern trim work is performed mostly in MDF due to the price and flexibility of materials, allowing us to hide imperfections in wall angles and uneven corners. Unless the trim is in a high-traffic area, MDF is strong enough to withstand everyday wear and tear;

• PVC is a material that is best used in bathrooms or places with significant humidity. PVC doesn’t rot, bend, or twist making it the perfect choice if it comes in contact with water.
